From Susan Hayes-- I am a person of faith. I believe in God. I believe He has a purpose for my life, and I believe that is expressed in my work with children.
Here is a little story--
For days I had been thinking STEM. And I had been thinking PLTW for STEM. But I was unsure, for several reasons ranging from "what we do with children's minutes matters" to "what I do with teachers' minutes matters" to "that's a lot of dang money." And I prayed for guidance.
One day, seemingly out of nowhere, I received an email from a grad student writing a thesis. Her question: What prompts a National Blue Ribbon School to change what it's doing when it's obvious that what it's doing works. Her target: Schools where the "before Blue Ribbon" principal was still there. I responded. And she called.
We had a wonderful conversation around her thesis. And then I mentioned my interest in Project Lead the Way. And guess whose husband worked for PLTW? That's right! She was able to give me a world of information AND connect me to a real person. I knew it was supposed to be!
Shout out to Tania and Shabaka!!!!
